About

As a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, my specialty is evaluating the electrical activity of the heart to diagnose symptoms, detect abnormal heart rhythms, or signal higher risk of heart disease. I do this using non-invasive methods such as electrocardiograms (EKGs) and wearable monitors, as well as procedures such as catheter ablations, which must be performed in a specialized operating room.

I was referred to this practice by Novant Medical Center to have a discussion about the watchman. As a new patient, the doctor entered the room unprepared with my back history. He had access to my history from the hospital and also from my Virginia cardiologist. He told us it was a lot of information to go through and he did not read it. He made me feel like I should not have made an appointment at all. He went on to say how many people were not knowledgeable about the watchman and it was not as good as the hype. He said people read a poster in a doctors office and think they should have a watchman. I could not hear him due to my hearing aids not working properly. He told me he could not speak up which then made my son repeat what the doctor said. I came home and got a better explanation from an AI site that compared the watchman to blood thinners. His attitude was not appreciated.
