From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the front desk. He was kind, courteous, and professional. The nurse then came to get me and she was also kind and professional. She was also organized and took care to describe everything she was doing. Dr Charles is amazing. She listened, reviewed my chart, and answered all of my questions. I appreciated that she actually discussed my treatment plan with me. This does not always happen when going to the doctor. I left their feeling empowered for my health and excited for the next steps. When I checked out, the same gentleman was there. He was able to schedule my next appointment and direct me to the lab because he knew it was my first visit to this office. I can’t say enough good things about everyone I interacted with for my appointment and the experience I had. I will also say culturally competent providers are important. I hope that Novant will continue to hire providers, nurses and front desk staff who represent all cultures AND be sure that providers are able to serve people of all cultural backgrounds. It matters and it makes a difference in the overall health and well-being of those individuals whom your organization serves. I sough out a Black doctor because of previous experiences and lack of complete care. I would not change a thing about the appointment I had with Dr. Charles because I am already feeling better after 1 visit with her (as opposed to years of visits with other providers).
