Doctor Erica Horn told me the risks of having another D&C (a blind procedure) with my endometrium being at 8.06mm and discouraged it (while I ended up not needing one, thankfully). She alone and the nurse practitioners I saw during all of my visits were extremely helpful!

I always really struggle with colposcopies, it is a very physically and emotionally stressful experience for me. It did take a much longer time to get the speculum in place than it has in previous colposcopies, but I don't know if that is because of the doctor or because of some change in my own body. I reacted with alarm when I felt a sharp stinging pain sooner than expected, and they stopped immediately until I figured out that it was just the vinegar cleaner stinging, and told them I was ready to keep going - so that was really good, helped me feel less out of control. Towards the end of the procedure, I was crying, and Dr. Horn recognized that this was trauma-related without me having to tell her, and asked about it gently. She was very patient with me and told me I wasn't her only patient with this kind of reaction. She discussed options for sedation for procedures in future to avoid retraumatizing myself - I'm not sure exactly how to get the sedation or if it will be covered by insurance, but I did appreciate her mentioning it, because I had no idea that was even a possibility.
