I can't thank Dr. Allbert enough for his care. He had to deliver very difficult news to us (both of our twins have a heart defect that will likely require open-heart surgery after birth) and he did so with remarkable compassion and clarity. He took the time to carefully explain what he was seeing, the next steps, additional testing, and what to expect moving forward.During a follow-up procedure, I experienced significant anxiety and pain, and Dr. Allbert met me with complete understanding and patience. He made me feel cared for, validated, and never rushed, meeting me exactly where I was emotionally and physically. His empathy and presence made an incredibly hard moment feel just a little bit lighter. We are deeply appreciative of the time, care, and kindness he showed our family.
I had a very disappointing experience with this provider. His bedside manner left much to be desired. I have gestational diabetes, and there seemed to be an issue with my glucose readings not showing up correctly in Epic on his end. Instead of clarifying the situation, he repeatedly questioned me about my numbers as if I wasn't being truthful, which made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed. When I asked a few questions about possibly waiting to see if my body would go into labor naturally, his response was, "Well, it's a free country, I can't force you to do anything." I was genuinely taken aback by that remark.During the ultrasound, he also wiped the gel off my belly and pressed down quite hard, which felt unnecessary and added to my discomfort. Overall, I left the appointment feeling unheard and disrespected.I truly value Novant's commitment to compassionate care, which is why this experience was so disappointing.
Dr. Albert never addressed the extra fluid comment the ultrasound tech stated I had with me. Instead, my appointment seemed more like a teaching moment for the ultrasound tech instead of addressing my needs. In the comments of my after care summary, he stated that I desired an induction after 40 weeks - I did not state this. His mind seemed elsewhere during the appointment (I assume because he just performed a procedure before my appointment) and he was rushing out the room before I could ask any questions. Since this was my last ultrasound before I deliver I had several questions that went unanswered because he had other things to do. The doctors at this clinic typically ask if I have any questions and thoroughly explain things that are happening but I did not receive that same care in this appointment.
Dr. Allbert and Michelle were both WONDERFULl!
