From the time I was a kid, I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. In high school, I became fascinated with biology, which - combined with my desire to help people - led me to a career in medicine.

I originally planned to be a general surgeon, but I fell in love with obstetrics when I discovered that the field allowed me to perform highly technical surgeries and get to know my patients over the course of their lifetimes.

I felt like the doctor was racing to get in and out of our appointment. There was no discussion or opportunity for me to ask questions. She did follow up on a question I asked in a survey after my annual appointment last year.
