About

As a child, I had severe scoliosis. At age 11, I underwent a 13-hour surgery that included a spinal fusion and landed me in the ICU for a week, followed by a month of bed rest at home. I don't remember being scared. I was simply in awe of science and what modern medicine - and the human body - could do. The special care I received from my medical team during that time has stayed with me ever since.
