Dr. Shoemaker was a very personable individual. He was thorough with his explanations and doing things in steps. He asked for my consent multiple times whether it be asking if the student he had with him could practice on me or some other part of the procedure. He also acknowledged that I attempted a pap smear once before that wasn't completed, (to no fault of the doctor that did It, I just want ready mentally) went slow, and made it as bearable as possible. Still wasn't an easy experience, but I was glad to get the "necessary evil," out the way in the manner that he cultivated it.
