My path to obstetrics and gynecology is deeply personal. My grandmother taught Lamaze classes in her home and garden in Antigua, West Indies, and she was the person generations of women turned to for health and fitness guidance, especially to manage labor and pregnancy concerns. She is still remembered by many mothers and now grandmothers for how she cared for them during pregnancy and beyond. Her dedication planted a seed in me. Dr. Speaks was amazing!! She is beautiful inside and out. Having a long history of fear while in the hands of medical providers is why I struggle getting the help I need. She helped me through that fear, educated me, and took her time. I FELT like I was her only patient. I work in the medical field, I know how hard and demanding it is. She was very gentle with me and it was refreshing to see.
