My path to medicine began in eighth grade, after reading an article about Vietnamese boat people. Seeing physicians from Doctors Without Borders go out to sea to help those in need moved me deeply. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be a doctor, someone patients could turn to in their most vulnerable moments.
