I credit an injury in high school with launching my medical care. I played field hockey, and an injury during a game led to surgery. I was taking an anatomy course at the time and was intrigued by the entire surgical process. I used my own surgery and recovery as a case study, and quickly became fascinated by the instant gratification of analyzing a problem and creatively fixing it.
