I come from a long line of physicians, so it wasn't surprising to my family that I wanted to be a doctor from a very young age. It was during my general surgery training that I realized the breadth of experience plastic surgery offered. I was attracted to the opportunity to take care of patients of any age from head to toe.

Doctor Tenzel seemed overwhelmed by the extent of my injuries and infection. After initially telling me he would recommend referring me to Wake Forest or Duke because it was beyond his experience, he then proceeded to tell me how essentially hopeless my situation was. He left me depressed and morbid. I have since had more practical recommendation from another reconstructive surgeon and am still waiting for Dr. Tenzel's referral to Duke.

I was seen as a follow-up after a fall and injury resulting from a seizure. Dr Tenzell immediately put me at ease, listened to what my husband described about the accident (I was unconscious after the fall and didn't remember anything). We were both relieved to know I would not need to have surgery.

I was asking the doctor questions and he literally told me maybe I should use the doctor that I saw do the type of procedure I was asking about and he also told me maybe I needed to get a 2nd opinion. His whole demeanor changed when he found out what I did for a living. He was kind of rude and disrespectful.
