Novant Health Pulmonary Medicine South – Pineville cares for adult patients with lung-related conditions. If breathing concerns are making it difficult for you to take part in daily activities or sleep restfully, we are here for you. Our providers are devoted to assessing and improving your lung function so you can live as healthy and full a life as possible.
Conditions we regularly treat include:
- Asthma (a respiratory condition that makes breathing difficult)
- Bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchial tubes that often causes coughing)
- Emphysema (a condition where damaged air sacs in the lungs cause breathlessness)
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; a condition in which constricted airways regularly cause difficulty or discomfort in breathing)
- Pulmonary fibrosis (a lung disease caused by damaged or scarred lung tissue)
- Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS; a condition in which fluid leaks into the lungs, making breathing difficult)
- Cystic fibrosis (a hereditary disease in which the body produces thick mucous that can clog the lungs)
- Sleep apnea (interruptions in breathing during sleep)
Services we offer include:
- Smoking cessation education
- Bronchoscopy (to assess lung health and investigate concerns including chronic coughing or abnormal test results)
- Diagnostic testing and treatment for occupational exposure to lung irritants
- X-ray services
- CT and PET scans
- Pulmonary function testing (to evaluate lung function; often used to assess the impacts of diseases or the effects of environmental exposures, and can be required before undergoing surgery or starting certain types of employment)
- Pulmonary rehabilitation (a combination of education and exercises to help patients with chronic lung disease improve lung function), including six-minute walk testing
- Pulmonary rehabilitation (offered at nearby hospitals) to improve lung function
- Therapies for patients who have received supplemental oxygen
