Novant Health Maternal-Fetal Medicine – Cornelius offers obstetric care for high-risk patients and those seeking genetic counseling. Our providers use the most advanced tools to monitor your health and the health of your unborn child throughout your pregnancy. In some cases, our providers can even address concerns while your baby is still in utero.

Services we offer include:

• Genetic counseling to review your family history and determine the level of risk your fetus might have for genetic problems or birth defects
• Ultrasounds to provide prenatal diagnoses, or identify or monitor growth or development concerns
• Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis, to look closely at a biopsy from the placenta or a sample of amniotic fluid
• Fetal treatments to address any concerns that can be handled before delivery
• Management of medical complications during pregnancy for expectant parents suffering from diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, lupus, sickle cell disease, blood clotting disorders, heart disease, kidney disease, and HIV and other infections
• Care for obstetrical complications including preeclampsia, preterm labor, placenta previa, placental abruption, gestational diabetes, abnormal fetal growth and premature rupture of membranes (PROM)
• Inpatient consultations for pregnant patients admitted to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
