Treating midlife GYN concerns with minimally invasive surgery
Surgery, no matter how routine, can be a scary proposition. Thankfully, many of the gynecologic (GYN) surgeries to correct issues midlife women face can now be performed using minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Minimally invasive GYN surgery uses several small incisions that are each only a few millimeters long instead of one large abdominal incision. The result is a shorter recovery, less pain and less scarring than with traditional surgery.
Some of the minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries we perform at Novant Health include:
- Leading-edge “no incision” tubal occlusion to prevent pregnancy
- Endometrial ablation to treat heavy bleeding
- Urinary incontinence procedures
- Pelvic floor reconstruction surgeries
