We’re here for both of you, every step of the way. From the time before conception even begins, when you are preparing your body to be at its healthiest; as your body changes throughout your pregnancy, when you are monitoring the development of your growing child and during the delivery and the weeks that follow when you and your child are adapting to your new life together. We will provide the education and support necessary to ensure your pregnancy and delivery are as healthy and stress-free as possible.
Novant Health provides a caring team of obstetricians, gynecologists, genetic counselors, dietitians, high-risk pregnancy specialists, pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, breastfeeding specialists, respiratory therapists, certified registered nurses and nurse-midwives who work together to provide you and your baby with a high level of care.
Caring for all babies
Novant Health delivers prenatal assessment services to ensure a healthy pregnancy, including diagnostic ultrasounds, first trimester screenings, non-stress testing and other diagnostic testing for high-risk pregnancies. And when your baby arrives, whether it's a standard delivery at 40 weeks or the delivery of a premature or critically-ill newborn, you can rest assured that your baby will be in excellent hands.
Focusing on the family
We offer many different educational and training classes for the entire family so that you’ll feel prepared when your newborn arrives.
Rooming in
After the delivery, we encourage “rooming in,” where you keep your baby with you in your hospital room from the moment he or she arrives. Rooming in enables you and your baby to bond more quickly and will help you feel more prepared to care for your baby when you go home. You’ll also become more familiar with your baby’s feeding cues and your breast milk will come in sooner.
Rooming in also benefits your baby by:
- Enabling you to breastfeed longer, which helps your baby develop a stronger immune system and gain weight at a healthier rate
- Ensuring your baby sleeps better, cries less and is consoled more easily
- Helping your baby feel safer and develop an early attachment to you, which leads to positive brain development
Novant Health wants to ensure each mother, partner, family member and newborn infant feels welcome and secure during your time with us. We look forward to celebrating this joyous and memorable occasion with you.
