Answers to common heart and vascular questions

The cardiovascular system is complex, so it’s natural that you may have some questions prior to your treatment. We pride ourselves in offering comprehensive, patient-centered care, which includes providing answers to all of your questions. Following is a list of our patients’ most frequently asked questions.

Q: If I or a friend / family member has chest pain, what should we do?
A: Call 911 immediately. Do not drive yourself or your loved one to the hospital. If you are having a heart attack, the EMS team that comes to you will begin life-saving treatment on the ambulance ride to the hospital.

Q: My physician says I need to lose weight to lower my risk for heart disease. Where can I get help?
A: Check out our heart healthy living programs. We offer everything from exercise classes to nutrition counseling, healthy recipes, support groups and services to help you live a heart healthy life.

Q: My physician has referred me to a Novant Health location for diagnostic testing. Where can I learn more about the test I will be having?
A: Visit the Diagnostic tests section of our website. You will find a list of all of the diagnostic tests we offer with information about what you can expect during your test.

Q: How do I enroll in one of Novant Health’s clinical trials?
A: Visit the Research & clinical trials section of our website for information on trials we are currently participating in or will be participating in soon.
