*Dr. Gary Renaldo and his staff are excellent! *Dr. Renaldo is the best - I am so happy he saw me at the hospital - the heart condition is all new to me. And he took time to explain all questions I have.

He actually interacted with me as the patient. I felt like I was not waiting for him to read info on the computer, then hand down a decision like a judge. Case closed.

I have been working in cardiology in the Winston-Salem area since 1989. I went into medicine to have a positive impact on people's lives. I chose to specialize in cardiology because it provided the opportunity to apply data and the science of physiology - or how the body works - to the art of caring for patients.

My approach to healthcare is to advocate for patients. That means I not only make a diagnosis and provide the proper treatment, but I also explain options and help patients make informed decisions about healthcare.

Over the years, I have been director of several departments of the cardiology section at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. I have also served as a counselor to the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and lead the local chapter of the American Heart Association. Giving back to the community is also important, which is why I volunteer at the Community Care Center of Forsyth County and Habitat for Humanity. I have also participated in several medical missions to Latin America.

Decades after completing my fellowship, I continue to enjoy how cardiology allows me to balance my interest in imaging and other diagnostic work with my passion for helping patients and their families. Working as an instructor for the physician assistant program at High Point University has allowed me to pass on my love of medicine to a new generation of caregivers.

When not working or volunteering, I enjoy reading, exercising and advocating for clean air and renewable energy. My wife and I have two adult children and a grandchild.
