Absolutely professional. By far my best experience in health care here in the US. Not that anyone wants to have a visit to oncology but Dr Turk and his staff are wonderful. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience given the circumstances.

I am the medical director of surgical oncology at Novant Health Cancer Institute and co-director of the breast cancer program at Novant Health.

Clinical research that advances the safety and comfort of my patients is an important part of my practice. A key highlight in my career was the launch of the SAVI SCOUT radar localization system for breast tumor removal. In 2016, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center became the first hospital in the state to use this system, which increases the probability of complete cancer removal, reduces the likelihood of follow-up surgeries, eliminates the use of painful needles and can result in less tissue being removed during surgery, resulting in better cosmetic outcomes.

I also enjoy learning and helping others advance their knowledge in our field. I have authored or co-authored textbook chapters and peer-reviewed articles focused on breast and gastrointestinal cancer. I have served on the clinical faculty at Brown University and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and am a past president of the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

As a surgeon, I seek to establish trust with each new patient throughout an individualized treatment process, utilizing all the resources available through the Novant Health Cancer Institute.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, running, biking and swimming.
