For as long as I can remember, I wanted to go into medicine. I loved science and reading mysteries. Medicine seemed to be the perfect blend of both. As a physician assistant, I find a medical problem and use scientific tools to understand it - and I don't stop until the mystery is solved.
I chose family medicine so I could care for patients from birth through all stages of life. I especially enjoy seeing longtime patients who now have their own babies. It is rewarding to connect with them on a personal level and encourage them to make healthy lifestyle choices. Understanding family dynamics and my patients' unique social situations helps me provide top-notch care.
In 2017, I became Novant Health's lead clinician for patient experience at Walkertown Family Medicine and joined the clinical improvement team.
Growing up in rural eastern Kentucky led me to pursue a master's degree in rural primary care after graduation from the physician assistant program at the University of Kentucky. My upbringing gave me strong community roots and keen compassion. My goal is to make my patients feel cared for - just like family.
My own family is a very busy one. My husband, Brian, is also a physician assistant. We have a son, Gabe, and a daughter, Paige. We love to spend time outdoors - boating, kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping and gardening. We have two dogs, a cat and recently started a cattle business. When all that leaves me a little downtime, I enjoy baking and handicrafts.
We attend Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville. I am active in the nursery and Vacation Bible School and have served as a youth cheerleading coach. In 2018, I was a medical missionary to the Dominican Republic. I am also involved in my children's schools and local health fairs.
