WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ― Eight Novant Health hospitals were recognized for excellence and quality in nursing care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program. The Magnet Recognition Program serves as the gold standard for nursing excellence and provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark for measuring quality of care.
The following hospitals renewed Magnet designation:
· Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital
· Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center
· Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center
· Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center
· Novant Health Matthews Medical Center
· Novant Health Medical Park Hospital
· Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
The eighth hospital, Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center, received its first recognition this year.
“It is an honor to have eight of our hospitals recognized for their commitment to remarkable nursing care,” said Denise Mihal, executive vice president and chief nursing and clinical operations officer for Novant Health. “Earning Magnet recognition is a tremendous accomplishment and a source of pride for all of our Magnet-designated hospitals.”
Published research has shown that hospitals with Magnet recognition have positive outcomes for patients, nurses and the workplace. Patients receiving care at Magnet recognized hospitals have been recorded as experiencing lower mortality rates and greater satisfaction during their stay and are able to go home sooner.
Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center is slated to renew designation in 2020.
