BOLIVIA, N.C. – For the fifth year in a row, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center will partner with several local Brunswick County organizations to host a free community baby shower on Saturday, May 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. The shower will be held in the parking lot of Brunswick Medical Center.
Vendors will give out clothing, diapers, toys, toiletries and more. There will also be information on breastfeeding, childbirth classes and car seat safety checks.
This year, local resident, Lauren Stanley, has joined the initiative to help local mothers and mothers-to-be as a way to honor her daughter, Josie Rose, who she lost in October. Stanley was 16 weeks pregnant at the time she lost Josie, who was due at the end of March. Once she heard what Brunswick Medical Center did for the community, Stanley and her husband thought it was the perfect opportunity to honor Josie.
Stanley encourages the community to donate to the shower to help other mothers in need. “Last year they helped more than 150 mothers and the impact this event has had on the community speaks for itself,” Stanley said. “We want to do this to honor Josie and honor mothers who are bringing life into the world.”
