Antibiotics can be dangerous

There are fatal repercussions from antibiotic resistance

An estimated 23,000 deaths and 2 million illnesses in the U.S. are due to infections caused by bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. Clostridium difficile (C. diff), carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and drug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae are an urgent threat to public health, according to the CDC. The agency has identified other dangerous superbugs as well. In addition, 1 in 5 emergency department visits for adverse reaction to a medication are related to antibiotics.
