Diversity and inclusion awareness is a team effort at Novant Health
Diversity and Inclusion awareness training is provided for all Novant Health leaders and staff. We have recently updated our diversity and inclusion training materials through PRISM to give our leaders and team members the latest tools to serve our diverse population and be intentionally inclusive. We believe that this educational experience helps our team members become more aware of themselves and sensitive to our customers' unique needs. Throughout the year, various learning forums such as team member meetings, workshops, retreats and Diversity and Inclusion Month celebrations add to our team members' diversity knowledge and cultural competency.
Novant Health also provides web chats around diversity and inclusion related events that affect the communities in which our team members work and live.
Tools like Lippincott Solutions which has a cultural perspective component is available to assist clinical team members when taking care of patients with cultural perspectives that are different from their own. We have transcultural health managers that are a resource throughout the organization to assist leaders and team members with developing and /or enhancing any dimension of diversity and inclusion to continue the remarkable patient and team member experience. 1st to Know is an editorial that is publish monthly for clinical staff, this editorial highlights “need to know” education, including education relating to the different dimensions of diversity and inclusion. Military leave policy
In support of team members who sacrifice so much to serve our nation in the U.S. military forces or state National Guard, Novant Health has enhanced military leave benefits. Military leaves of absence at Novant Health are administered under the provisions of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). Full time and part time members when entering the uniformed services and returning within the time and conditions prescribed by law, will be reinstated to their former position, or a comparable one.
Team members who are members of a reserve military organization or the National Guard may participate in weekend or annual training as required. Novant Health will attempt to coordinate schedules, to the extent possible, to allow employees to meet their reserve obligations.
Parental leave policy
Novant Health is committed to supporting employees as they welcome a new child through birth or adoption, which is why we offer paid parental leave to eligible team members. It’s part of our commitment to being an organization whose business is the care of all people, starting with our team members. Novant Health provides four weeks of paid parental leave at 100% of base pay to eligible team members, which can also be combined with short-term disability leave.
