Community Cruiser

Taking healthcare on the road

Our mission to provide remarkable healthcare extends outside the walls of Novant Health hospitals. The Community Care Cruiser, a 40-foot mobile clinic, provides immunizations (vaccines) to uninsured children in the greater Charlotte area.

Eligible participants are children, newborn to age 18. The cruiser is designed to meet the needs of the uninsured youth in the greater Charlotte area. Those who have full insurance coverage should continue to see their primary care physician.

In light of COVID-19, appointments are now required in advance of receiving services: walk-up immunizations are not available, with the exception of Big Shotz events at the Mecklenburg County Health Department.

Step 1: There are two ways to make an appointment. You can call us at 844-644-3578 (NHHELPU), or click here to visit our online appointment scheduler.

Step 2: Please email or text a copy of your child’s immunization records to [email protected] or 704-351-1703 before your appointment date. Sending this information in advance will drastically reduce your wait time.

For more information about the Community Care Cruiser, call 844-644-3578 (NHHELPU).

PLEASE NOTE - COVID-19 vaccinations are NOT available at The Community Care Cruiser

The Community Care Cruiser is NOT able to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at this time. We will update this page as new information becomes available. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine, visit www.getvaccinated.org.

Out of concern for the health and well-being of our patients and to help control the spread of respiratory illnesses such as the novel coronavirus, Novant Health is instituting changes to its Community Cruiser process. We are taking extra steps to ensure your safety, including:

Social distancing, by requiring appointments and caring for you at your car.

Requiring masks for all patients and family members over age 11. Please bring a mask or cloth to wear over your face. We will provide a mask if you do not have one.

Screening all patients and team members for fevers before they begin their work.

Team member precautions, such as requiring that staff wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves, at all times.

Limiting our screening locations to those that can accommodate social distancing requirements.
