Tanya Blackmon, a health care leader, briskly rubbed her hands as she walked through the parking garage at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. It was partly due to the cold weather, but also some anxiety about receiving her first COVID-19 vaccination.
“I am a little nervous today,” said Blackmon, Novant Health’s executive vice president and chief diversity, inclusion and equity officer, as she entered the hospital. “Not because I don’t think it’s the right thing to do, but just because it’s new and different.”
The COVID-19 vaccine is becoming more available with each passing week, but some people remain hesitant for various reasons. Novant Health strongly urges everyone to get vaccinated, and in this video you’ll see Blackmon share her views as she’s receiving the vaccination.
“I know I’m making the right decision for me at this time,” Blackmon said. “It is so important for me, as a mom, as a daughter, as a sister and a leader in this organization, to do what I’ve said we believe in as an organization. Our goal is to eradicate – really get rid of – this COVID-19 pandemic that has been in our lives and wreaked havoc for months.”
