Bettielou Small is the epitome of resiliency. The former intensive care nurse and current coordinator of surgical services at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center had racked up six marathons and nearly 20 half marathons before a devastating accident almost halted her running days and nearly took her life. Today, through perseverance and hard work, Small is back at work and preparing for her next race.
