Novant Health is the first health system worldwide to be revalidated for the prestigious HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Ambulatory Award for its adoption and use of an electronic health record.

The award encompasses all Novant Health medical group clinics – about 440 locations.

The analytics arm of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) advises health care organizations across the globe on IT best practices. Dr. Keith Griffin, chief medical information officer for Novant Health medical group, said the firm noted the medical group’s innovative reporting and dashboard capabilities when revalidating for Stage 7, the highest level possible.

The electronic health record elevates the quality of care provided to patients, from the ability to share medical records across health systems to advanced decision support that allows providers to identify patients in need of or overdue for care.

And then there’s MyChart, a secure online health management tool that connects patients to their personalized health record – from anywhere, at any time. By integrating with Fitbit and AppleKit, Novant Health patients are also able to share data from their personal fitness trackers with their providers.

Martha Brown, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, has especially found MyChart to be helpful. Watch and find out why.
