Nurse visits can help you care for your new baby

After you have a baby, you may want some advice for keeping yourself and your new child healthy. Family Connects is a program for parents living in Forsyth and Davidson counties that provides free nurse visits at your home.

The goal of this department is to provide support for you and your baby while connecting you with resources that can help your family thrive. Available to residents of both Forsyth and Davidson county who deliver at either Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center or Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

While you are in the hospital with your new baby, our team will stop by to schedule your at-home nurse visit. If you leave the hospital before we see you, we will call you to make the appointment. Your home visit will take place when your baby is 2 to 4 weeks old.

Having a new baby affects many areas of your life. Your nurse can offer you a range of services, including:

  • Weighing your baby
  • Checking up on your physical and mental health
  • Teaching you breastfeeding techniques
  • Offering support as you prepare to go back to work
  • Helping you bond with your new child
  • Managing your child’s crying
  • Showing you nearby playgroups and parent support groups
