Title: CREST: Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy vs. Stenting Trial

Investigator:  Donald Heck, MD

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to contrast the relative efficacy of Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) versus Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA) in preventing stroke, myocardial infarction, and death during a 30-day peri-procedural period and stroke ipsilateral to the study artery over the follow-up period (up to 10 years) in patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic extracranial carotid stenosis.
