Title: The THERAPY Trial: The Randomized, Concurrent Controlled Trial to Assess the Penumbra System's Safety and Effectiveness in the Treatment of Acute Stroke
Investigator: Donald Heck, MD
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Penumbra System as adjunctive treatment to iV rtPA in patients with acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation.
Eligibility: From 18-85 years of age, have symptoms of acute ischemic stroke and eligible for IV rtPA therapy, evidence of large vessel occlusion in anterior circulation with a clot length of great than or equal to 8mm, NIHSS score greater than or equal to 8 or aphasic at presentation, signed informed consent
