Helping your body's health through your recovery

At Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, we know that proper nutrition and your physical well-being can play a big part in your fight and recovery from cancer – whether you have been newly diagnosed or are far along with your treatment. Both are important for prolonged survivorship, too.

Nutritional services

Good nutrition is especially important for people with cancer. Whether your treatments involve radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery, nutrition strategies can help you maintain energy and the best possible functioning of your body. Our oncology dietitians will work closely with you to develop nutrition strategies that will help you in several ways, including:

  • Avoiding complications
  • Tolerating prescribed treatments
  • Healing from treatments
  • Protecting quality of life
  • Maintaining functional capacity
  • Planning for survivorship wellness

Our nutritional services also include a monthly nutrition and wellness class called Living Well - designed to help you develop a healthy diet after you've been diagnosed with cancer.

Wellness and rehabilitation services

In addition to advanced treatments and emotional support, the Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center also provides comprehensive cancer wellness and rehabilitation services. We will work with you to promote a healthy body to support your treatment and recovery.

Our flagship cancer wellness program for cancer survivors is called Muscles in Motion. This program is designed to help you maintain movement, flexibility, strength and endurance through appropriate exercises.
