Life Support Courses at Novant Health

Complete the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)® Program at Novant Health.

The Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)® Program is the performance improvement program from AHA that delivers quarterly training to support mastery of high-quality CPR skills. With RQI, healthcare providers have the confidence and competency to respond with life-saving patient care. Utilizing a variety of learning tools with an emphasis on skills mastery through low-dose, high-frequency training and performance feedback, the RQI Program offers three training components: cognitive, psychomotor skills, and simulated patient cases.

  1. The cognitive component involves interactive lectures, videos, or web-based content and is targeted to specific provider groups within the hospital and in other healthcare settings.
  2. The psychomotor skills component monitors and reports RQI metrics and equipment used in the healthcare setting, utilizing performance measurements completed within the healthcare facility’s clinical units.
  3. The simulated patient cases require participants to assess and treat a virtual patient and are integral to assessing their ability to apply RQI skills to a real patient scenario.

There are four (4) types of life support courses being provided at Novant Health.

  1. Basic Life Support (BLS) - The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is for first responders that provide to anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway.
