Social determinants of health
Thursday, May 3 at noon
In order for our team members and providers to better understand each other and our patients, we must look beyond medical acuity to better understand health. Social determinants of health (SDOH), or non-medical social needs, strongly influence health outcomes.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, there are six socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics that can impact health: economic stability, neighborhood and physical environment, education, food, community and social context, and the healthcare system.
Please join Tanya Blackmon, executive vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, in a discussion on these six factors mentioned above. Remember, the web chat is not designed to be a debate or problem-solving session, but rather a time to share your experiences, thoughts and feelings, as well as to listen to others.
