Watching my grandfather's neurological and physical decline when I was a teenager led me to pursue a career in medicine. After shadowing healthcare providers in a variety of medical specialties while in college, I knew that physical therapy was the field for me. This area of medicine allows me to combine my love of sports medicine and neurological pathology. For me, it is all about helping people improve their quality of life and get back to what they love.

For rehabilitation to be successful, I think it is important to learn about each patient's history and try to help those individuals understand the causes of their pain. Each patient's pain is different, and we each react differently to pain.

General rehabilitation allows me to work with patients with a variety of backgrounds and diagnoses. This can include sports-related and postoperative injuries as well as neurological movement disorders.

Outside of work, I enjoy taking part in continuing education classes that teach me more about running and sports-related rehabilitation with focuses on ankle/foot, shoulder and knee. These classes help increase my knowledge and help me provide the most up-to-date treatment options for my patients.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving as a Rock Steady boxing coach, helping patients fight back against Parkinson's disease, and served as the Novant Health team leader for the Parkinson's Moving Day.

I am married to my college sweetheart whom I met on the soccer field, and we now have two children. My husband and I love being outdoors - hiking, running, playing with the kids or just taking walks together. Along with an active family lifestyle, I enjoy exercise - from yoga and barre to running and circuit training.
