Novant Health Sports Performance brings a comprehensive approach to health and fitness to the Lake Norman area. No matter your fitness level, our expert performance specialists can work with you to improve your performance, decrease your risk of injury and keep you motivated.

High school program

High school athletes will work in small groups with a performance specialist to increase their knowledge and understanding of athletic movement patterns and proper training techniques. Our programming creates a foundation of knowledge to increase overall coordination and athleticism while teaching appropriate health practices to bolster the success of the athlete. Classes are fun, positive, engaging and safe environments for athletes to explore their potential.

Collegiate program

Collegiate athletes are challenged every day to perform at the highest levels against the best competition in the country. Our collegiate program offers support from performance specialists to help college athletes maximize their physical performance when they return to compete for their school. These programs focus on sport-specific functional movements, building strength and endurance specific to each individuals needs and empowering the athlete with proper recovery techniques.

Programs for professional and elite athletes offer quality support from specialists focused on helping athletes optimize performance in their sport. These programs focus on building strength, power, speed, quickness and endurance specific to each sport and athlete, while creating greater mobility and flexibility to decrease injury potential.

Adult program

Whether you want to increase your daily energy levels, run your first 5K, lose ten pounds or just feel stronger, our adult classes can help you reach your goals. No matter what your current fitness level is, Novant Health Sports Performance provides you with the opportunity to train in a fun atmosphere with cutting-edge technology and exciting workouts designed to challenge you. You'll receive support from the same performance specialists that work with elite and professional athletes to support your specific needs and goals.

Sports medicine

Our on-site certified athletic trainer is a highly qualified, multiskilled healthcare professional who collaborates with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. We also offer additional, cash-based services including:

  • Recovery Pump: Utilize our state of the art recovery pump to reduce muscle soreness, heart rate and blood pressure, improve muscle contraction capacity, decrease swelling and stiffness and relieve muscle fatigue.
  • Concussion Return-to-Play program: If you have been diagnosed with a concussion and are required to complete a Gfeller-Waller return-to-play protocol, our team is here to help. Once you are symptom-free, (at rest and with cognitive stimulation such as reading and computer work), your physician may allow you to begin your return-to-play program. The step-by-step exertional protocol can be completed in as little as four consecutive days before returning to full sports participation.
  • Bridge program: Our program is designed for individuals who have completed their physical therapy programs but want to continue their injury recovery into an active fitness journey. It is also for patients who feel they are still not able to perform at their pre-injury level or need support in their fitness routine to accommodate injury limitations. Our expert physical therapists, athletic trainers and performance coaches collaborate with your current provider to cultivate your exercise program. The exercise programs are tailored to your individual goals, fitness levels and recovery limitations.
    Program details
    • Choose between small group classes ($40) or one-on-one training ($70).
    • Receive your individualized exercise programming based on your clinician’s guidelines and your personal goals.

Physical therapy

We offer rehabilitation for patients of all ages at our integrated rehabilitation center. Our services are on the leading edge of rehabilitation techniques and technology and are designed with your needs in mind. We use advanced equipment and therapies to speed your recovery and get you back to your normal routine as soon as possible. We offer a variety of services, including:

  • Dry Needling: Our facility offers dry needling performed by our on-site physical therapists. Dry needling is an effective rehabilitation intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
  • Manual Therapy: Our physical therapists perform manual therapy to evaluate and treat orthopedic patients while alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, restoring movement and maximizing function.
