Novant Health Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics – Eastover is here to provide the care your child needs for common to complex conditions that affect behavior and development. Our services start with a detailed assessment of your child’s condition and symptoms, leading to as accurate a diagnosis as possible. Once that is achieved, our providers will work with you to evaluate strategies to manage and treat your child.
Conditions our providers address include:
- Developmental delays with or without symptoms that affect behavior
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, including preschool and complex ADHD, as well as consultations for medication)
- Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders and medication to help manage behavior
- Genetic syndromes and abnormalities with behavioral symptoms
Our goal is to provide you with the best help available for your child. If we identify a condition during your child’s evaluation that is better treated by a provider in another specialty, we will make needed referrals. If you have a concern listed below, please ask your child’s primary care provider for a referral to a specialist in psychiatry, neurology or psychology.
Conditions for a provider in psychiatry to address include:
- Primary anxiety disorders (obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, and panic attacks)
- Depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, personality disorders
- Psychotic disorders (hallucinations, thought disorders, delusions)
- Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD/conduct disorders, including violent or threatening behavior, fire starting)
- History of suicidal or homicidal thoughts or actions
- History of inpatient psychiatric care
- History of medication management with psychiatry
Conditions for a provider in neurology to address include:
- Cerebral palsy
- Movement disorders
- Tics
- Global developmental regression (to rule out metabolic or mitochondrial disorders)
Issues for a provider in psychology to address include:
- IQ and adaptive testing (to rule out cognitive impairment or intellectual disability)
- Full psychoeducational or neuropsychological testing to identify a learning disability
