Novant Health Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Medicine – Kimel Park offers children ages 3 to 18 a safe place where they can talk about their feelings and learn ways to manage them. Our providers have extensive training in child psychiatry. They understand how to listen to children, even when they’re having trouble sharing their concerns. The goal is to understand how your child’s struggles are affecting their behavior at home, their performance in school and the family’s well-being. As a next step, your child can begin to develop the tools he or she needs to handle difficult situations more successfully.

We offer play therapy, psychotherapy and medication management for children and teenagers with the following mental health conditions:

• Depression
• Anxiety
• Attention deficit disorder (ADD)
• Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
• Autism
• Panic attacks
• Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from neglect, child abuse or the death of a parent
• Separation anxiety, related to divorce or other family breakup
• Insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep)
