Novant Health Cardiothoracic Surgeons provides cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery to patients at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our highly trained surgeons work alongside skilled midlevel providers to offer the care you need both in our clinic and in the hospital. We focus solely on conditions affecting the heart, veins and thoracic area (lungs, chest wall, esophagus), so we are completely dedicated to staying up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques in this field. Cardiac procedures our surgeons perform include:

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (on- and off-pump) (surgery to improve blood flow to the heart)
  • Valve repair and replacement, including minimally invasive valve replacement
  • Laser transmyocardial revascularization (Laser TMR)
  • Aortic root replacement (surgery to replace the aortic root in the heart)
  • Septal myomectomy for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (surgery to reduce muscle thickening in the heart)
  • Surgery for atrial fibrillation (AFib) including Cox-Maze and Mini-Maze procedures
  • Thoracic aortic aneurysm repair (a procedure to remove and replace a damaged section of the aorta)
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR; a non-surgical treatment that inserts a wire mesh valve into the heart through an artery in the leg
