While I was interested in medicine and surgery at an early age, my interest in thoracic surgery was piqued in my surgical internship. Having good mentors and being able to see a range of pathologies and surgeries led me to realize that I had found what I wanted to do. Thoracic surgery provided a good mix of technically challenging, patient-focused clinical care experiences, as well as continued opportunities for advancement in techniques and treatments.

I am also part of our multidisciplinary team, which includes medical and radiation oncologists, nurses, therapists and other specialists who are dedicated to the care of thoracic oncology patients. We collectively review cases and discuss the best course of care. I then use this information to work with my patients to discuss treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery, to ensure that they feel informed and comfortable making decisions about their care.

In addition to my training in cardiothoracic surgery, I have completed clinical fellowships at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. I was also selected to be a thoracic surgical robotics fellow, which is a scholarship program run by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation, an international academic cardiothoracic society.

I have been involved in writing book chapters and contributed to articles published in major academic journals. Most recently, this includes optimizing and streamlining thoracic surgery patients on ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocols.

I enjoy spending time with my wife, who is also a physician, as well as my daughter. Together, we enjoy traveling and scuba diving.
