      Job summary

      The intern’s Number One job responsibility is to deliver the most remarkable patient experience, in every dimension, every time, and understand how he or she contributes to the health system’s vision of achieving that commitment to patients and families.

      Novant Health Foundation and Community Engagement team is seeking highly motivated, energetic and outgoing interns with a strong desire for fundraising and community outreach. The intern will assist in the implementation and progression of foundation and community outreach programs within the Novant Health system. The internship provides an opportunity for proactive individuals to gain valuable hands-on foundation and community outreach experience for a multi-state healthcare system.

      Roles/responsibilities

        • Contribute to the development and coordination of foundation and community engagement
        • Write event recaps and keep a comprehensive record of media clips that cover Novant Health Foundations
        • Handle general office duties, including: research, data entry, copying and filing
        • Assist in writing weekly/monthly foundation and community engagement updates
        • Design e-vites and other materials for fundraisers/community engagement events
        • Write content for social media
        • Proof grants and proposals
        • Assist in arrangement and implementation of awareness and giving campaigns
        • Fulfill all other duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      Education (required): Enrolled in an accredited college or university (preferably in related field such as: English, marketing/communications, public relations, hospitality, non-profit management or finance).

      Licensure/certification/registration: N/A

      Skills required:

        • Experience in fundraising, communications or related field
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
        • Must be punctual, responsible and dependable
        • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
        • Familiarity with Internet search engines
        • Proficient typing skills, good organizational skills, ability to work independently and able to multi-task
        • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy
        • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

      Job summary

      Provides support to the administrative team via completion of projects in assigned areas and active participation in meetings. Works closely with the executive team as assigned throughout the system. Experiential learning occurs through participation in rotations that provide exposure to different functions within the health care system. Duration of experience will be three to four months as determined by assigned preceptor.

          • Assists senior leaders with providing support to the healthcare system.
          • Provides the basic framework for the educational experience by identifying personal goals and objectives. Collaborates with assigned preceptor to identify rotations and learning experiences within the organization that will assist with meeting identified goals and objectives.
          • Seeks opportunities to actively participate in assigned administrative meetings. Becomes involved in the decision-making process. Constantly seeks new information regarding the management of the organization.
          • Manages and completes projects that are either predetermined or assigned. The primary projects to which the Administrative Intern will be assigned will be determined based on the needs of the organization and the areas of interest to the Intern.

          Qualifications

          The following qualifications are the minimum necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

          The ideal candidate should have experience working in a multi-tasked environment and the ability to efficiently coordinate several projects. They will be self-motivated and possess strong problem-solving abilities.

            • Education and formal training: actively pursuing Bachelor’s Degree an MHA, MBA or equivalent from an accredited graduate program
            • Work experience: Minimum one-year experience in a healthcare environment preferred

        Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

          • Demonstrates a working knowledge of healthcare delivery and practice
          • Strong analytical, project management, and presentation skills
          • Communicates effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of authority
          • Ability to maintain confidentiality
          • Flexible and able to respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment

        Potential duties and responsibilities

          • Basic Web copy writing
          • Small scale project management
          • Uploading text, images and new media to multiple web sites
          • Assisting with social networking initiatives
          • Assisting in conducting web research
          • Under supervision of marketing staff, works on specific projects as needed
          • Monitoring Web site analytics
          • Physical requirements: medium work - exerting 21 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
