Program Description

At Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, our PGY2 oncology residency program strives to develop clinicals who provide optimal patient care and safety. Upon graduation, the resident is able to exhibit quality professional leadership skills along with clinical excellence in oncology pharmacy. The resident will participate in a team-based care model alongside our pharmacist who care for patients with cancer across two-states and more than a dozen oncology practice sites. Our PGY2 oncology residency program will encompass 12 months of training and offers a wide array of experiences in inpatient and outpatient oncology via the Novant Health Cancer Institute; investigational research and specialty pharmacy through our URAC accredited Novant Health Specialty pharmacies.

Novant Health is a rotation site for Wingate University School of Pharmacy, Campbell University School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy

Program completion

Upon completion, residents will have gained the following skills:
  • Management of, and improvement in, the medication use process
  • Proficient leadership and practice management skills
  • Provision of optimal and cost-effective patient-centered medication therapy management as part of an interdisciplinary health care team
  • Effective utilization of medical informatics
  • Professional development
