At Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, our PGY2 oncology residency program strives to develop clinicians who provide optimal patient care and safety. Upon graduation, the resident is able to exhibit professional leadership skills along with clinical excellence in oncology pharmacy. The resident will participate in a team-based care module alongside our pharmacists who care for patients with cancer across two-states and more than a dozen oncology practice sites. 

Program Description

The Novant Health PGY2 Oncology pharmacy residency program at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center will encompass 12 months of training and experience in multiple aspects of cancer care. Our PGY2 offers a wide array of experiences in inpatient and outpatient oncology via the Novant Health Cancer Specialists and Novant Health Lake Norman Oncology clinics, investigational research via the Novant Oncology Research Institute (NORI), specialty pharmacy via the URAC-accredited Novant Specialty Pharmacy, bone marrow transplant and pediatric oncology at Novant Health St. Jude's Affiliate Clinic at Hemby Children's Hospital.

Novant Health is a rotation site for Wingate University School of Pharmacy, Campbell University School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy

Program completion

Upon completion, residents will have gained the following skills:
  • Management of, and improvement in, the medication use process
  • Proficient leadership and practice management skills
  • Provision of optimal and cost-effective patient-centered medication therapy management as part of an interdisciplinary health care team

  • Professional development
