PGY1 & PGY2 with MHA or MS

Program description

The two-year Health System Pharmacy Administration residency at Novant Health will prepare pharmacy leaders for success in a complex, evolving healthcare environment. This residency program will be a unique opportunity for pharmacy leaders to train in a large, integrated, community-focused healthcare system that is truly improving the health of communities, one person at a time. Residents will have the option of pursuing an MHA graduate program offered through Pfeiffer University or an MS graduate program offered through UNC -Chapel Hill.

PGY1 curriculum

Core competencies (4 weeks):
Orientation
IV compounding
Infectious diseases
Service leadership
Administration (Clinical and operational management)
At least two rotations from the following
Behavioral health
Internal medicine
Neonatal ICU
Neurology
Oncology
Surgery
And at least one rotation from the following
Med/Surg critical care
Cardiac ICU
CT surgery
Emergency department
Elective options
Ambulatory care

Financial management/Budgeting
Staffing every fourth weekend alongside manager on-call responsibilities
Support of pharmacy initiatives/meetings (pharmacy leadership, department open forums, strategic planning)

 

MHA or MS Graduate Program:

Graduate program application deadlines:
Pfeiffer MHA- due post-Match Health Administration – MHA | Pfeiffer University
UNC MS- due in December Residential Program - UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy
Courses completed online through live interactive videoconference
