The Nurse Residency Program and Student Nurse Apprentice Program are led by two nurse managers. These managers work closely together and coordinate all activities related each program. Continue reading below to learn more about each manager and their background at Novant Health.


Lindsey Horne, MHA, BSN, RNC-MNN, RN-BC
Manager of Nurse Residencies

Lindsey Horne began her nursing career at Novant Health 14 years ago as a new graduate nurse. Lindsey is a UNCC graduate and spent the majority of her time at the bedside working in women’s health at Matthews Medical Center. With encouragement from unit leaders, family and friends Lindsey began to pursue her Masters of Healthcare Administration in 2009. Since receiving her master’s degree, Lindsey has served in a variety of roles from clinical supervisor to clinical nurse educator. Currently, Lindsey serves as the manager of nurse residencies, overseeing the SNAP and residency programs for Novant Health. Lindsey is extremely passionate about working with new nurses and assisting in the transition to professional practice. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her husband Dusty, daughter Laney and dog Kirby.


Tracey Whitley, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Manager of Nurse Residencies

Tracey Whitley received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has worked as a staff nurse, clinical shift manager, clinical nurse educator and clinical practice specialist. Her clinical background has been in women’s health nursing, focusing in high risk obstetrics. Tracey has been an invited speaker and had multiple podium and poster presentations at the local, state and national level. She is currently the nurse manager for residencies at Novant Health. In this position, she works to bring new graduates into the system’s acute care facilities and helps the residents transition to practice as a new nurses. In addition to new residents, Tracey manages the student nurse apprentice program (SNAP) participants between their junior and senior year of nursing school. Helping nurses establish their career and find their right place in nursing is something Tracey is passionate about. These new nurses are our future in healthcare! When not at work, Tracey enjoys spending time with her husband, Brad and children, Andrew and Megan.
