Educational rotation opportunities for students.
Are you a motivated, hardworking and driven student interested in work-based learning opportunities in healthcare? Novant Health offers student educational rotations where you can get experience observing or participating in our non-clinical and clinical departments.
It can take up to 30 days to complete all requirements.
You must be at least 16 years old.
Before you begin your educational rotation, you will first need to talk with your faculty member to ensure that your school has a current educational institution's student agreement on file with Novant Health, Inc.:
- General "student agreement"
- School of pharmacy student agreement
If we do not have a current student agreement on file, please have the school president, provost, chancellor or appropriate designee sign a letter of agreement. Email the signed letter of agreement with a copy of your school's certificate of insurance to the Student Programs team.
To keep the agreement current, a new certificate of insurance must be submitted annually.
The Novant Health Student Programs team works with the institution to ensure all student requirements are submitted.
If you are enrolled in an out-of-state educational program, you must have your school provide proof of participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).
Submit the appropriate requirements packet based on your rotation type:
Submit required documentation
- All documentation should be submitted at least four weeks before the clinical rotation.
- Your faculty/advisor must email all your required documentation and nationwide criminal background check (which includes Social Security trace, OIG, and sex offender registry) together to the Student Programs team.
Identification of a qualified preceptor is the responsibility of the student and the school because each school/program has a different set of requirements for the educational experience.
Required training modules for all educational rotations
You will be assigned Dimensions training modules in your MyClinicalExchange account after you meet all clearance requirements. Make sure you update your personal information, complete attestations, and upload documents as required.
It may take up to 72 hours after you complete Dimensions training to get access to EPIC. To log in, have both your active Corporate ID and unique registered password. If you are unable to log in, you may need to reset your password. (Allow 24 hours for new password to sync before logging in.)
If you are interested in having a preceptor, it is your responsibility to identify one. We encourage you to work through your school/education provider, or directly with facility clinic administrators.
If your rotation is from October to April, you are required to get the current seasonal flu vaccine.
If you were previously granted a permanent influenza vaccine exemption, you do not need to request another exemption this year. If you believe you have a permanent influenza exemption but have not received confirmation of this from Employee Occupational Health, please email Student Programs.
In accordance with the CDC, you are not required to get the COVID-19 vaccination at this time. However, if you have a COVID-19 exposure or symptoms, you are required to follow the screening process and protocol.
Once Student Programs verifies that all student and institution requirements are complete and met, the following will receive an email from Student Programs confirming the student's clearance and providing additional details:
- Coordinator at the institution
- Preceptor (if applicable)
Clearance will also be reflected in the student's myClinicalExchange account.
Students, do not report to a rotation without having received this documented clearance. Continue to refer to your clearance email for important information about your rotation.
Submit clinical and non-clinical educational rotations via the myClinicalExchange platform. If your corporate ID is not entered into your myClinicalExchange account, this is because the ID process is still in process and is incomplete. If you do not use your ID for 90 days or more, it will be disactivated. Email Student Programs to learn how to reactivate your ID.
For questions about that portal, have your school coordinator contact Support@MyClinicalExchange.com.
