Kelli Ferry
Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
As executive vice president and chief legal officer at Novant Health, Kelli Ferry oversees the health system’s legal, risk management, corporate audit and compliance operations. She also serves as corporate secretary for the Novant Health board of trustees.
Ferry has been an integral part of Novant Health’s legal team since 2018, previously serving as deputy chief legal officer and senior assistant general counsel. A principled adviser and business strategist, Ferry’s expertise across several areas of law has enabled Novant Health to serve new communities, launch valuable partnerships, and transform healthcare delivery with new technology, all while maintaining the interests of patients and the future of the organization.
Prior to joining Novant Health in 2018, Ferry spent more than a decade as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Western District of North Carolina. Her tenure included serving as the criminal chief for the Western District of North Carolina, overseeing all criminal prosecutions in North Carolina’s western 32 counties. As a prosecutor, she conducted complex fraud investigations involving both individuals and national corporations, obtaining convictions for violations of federal fraud statutes, the Anti-kickback Statute, the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and drug diversion statutes. Ferry served on the United States Sentencing Commission and as counselor to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the United States Department of Justice.
Ferry currently serves on the boards of the North Carolina Healthcare Association, the Charlotte Ballet and Nourish Up, a network of emergency food pantries based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and English. After earning a law degree from the University of Virginia, Ferry clerked on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia for the Honorable Robert E. Payne.
