Quality
How Does Novant Compare?
Novant Health pursues clinical excellence in patient care and our hospitals exceed state and national quality benchmarks.
When you choose a hospital based on quality, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Novant's individual hospitals, outpatient centers and physician practices continue to improve medical care and services for our patients by sharing knowledge, technology and other resources. That is why Novant Health is ranked 12th in the nation among integrated healthcare networks.
One of the best ways to rate healthcare quality is through data collected by independent sources. Our hospitals voluntarily participate in programs to measure our performance and compare with other hospitals throughout the nation.
Medicare Hospital Quality Online Report
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) publish the results of several patient quality measures at hospitals across the U.S., including these key areas in which Novant hospitals participate.
Heart Attack (AMI Care)
A heart attack (also called AMI or acute myocardial infarction) happens when the arteries leading to the heart become blocked and the blood supply is slowed or stopped.

Heart Failure
Heart Failure is a weakening of the heart's pumping power. With heart failure, your body doesn't get enough oxygen and nutrients to meet its needs.

Pneumonia Care
Pnuemonia is a serious lung infection that causes difficulty breathing, fever, cough and fatigue.

Surgical Care Improvement Project
Hospitals can reduce the risk of wound infection after surgery by making sure patients get the right medicines at the right time on the day of their surgery.

The Appropriate Care Measure (ACM) is a patient-centered composite score that captures whether or not a patient received all of the recommended treatments they were eligible to receive, based on their specific condition.
