Heart Care
Forsyth Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Thomasville Medical Center have earned national recognition as Accredited Chest Pain Centers. In addition, Presbyterian Hospital was the first in North Carolina to achieve advanced accreditation for Cycle II Chest Pain with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Forsyth Medical Center became the first hospital in the Carolinas to receive national certification from The Joint Commission for its Congestive Heart Failure Program, ensuring remarkable care across the continuum for this chronic condition. And, FMC was awarded a 3-Star designation by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for 2008. This designation places FMC in the top 10 percent nationwide for providing quality cardiac surgery.
Neurosciences
When it comes to stroke care, "time is brain." Forsyth Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital were the first two facilities in the Carolinas to become nationally certified stroke centers. Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, Rowan Regional Medical Center and Thomasville Medical Center are also nationally certified stroke centers. These facilities provide quality care that meets or exceeds all nationally benchmark standards established by The Joint Commission.
Orthopaedics
The Total Hip & Total Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Programs at Forsyth Medical Center and Prince William Hospital achieved national certification from The Joint Commission, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care. Forsyth Medical Center, Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital and Prince William Hospital have been recognized statewide and nationally for surgical care and quality service to patients.
Cancer
Cancer patients and their families look for a leader in oncology. Presbyterian Cancer Center and the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, which includes Medical Park Hospital and Thomasville Medical Center, have received Outstanding Achievement recognition from the National Commission on Cancer. The hospitals provide patients with access to newly approved, cutting-edge treatments. Prince William Hospital received a three-year accreditation from the Commission.
Nursing
The American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized the nursing programs at five Novant hospitals as "Magnet" for their excellence and quality in nursing care: Forsyth Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital. Only 5 percent of hospitals nationwide are recognized as Magnet hospitals.
