Care for premature and
special needs newborns
If your baby is born prematurely or with an illness or condition that requires special care, rest assured that your baby will be in good hands. That’s because we have a team of board-certified neonatologists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists / lactation consultants, child-life specialists and many more staff in our Novant Health neonatal intensive care units (NICU) in Charlotte and Winston-Salem, as well as in our special care nurseries, who will closely monitor and help treat your little one.
For additional information, please call:
We encourage you to become a part of that team and your baby’s healing process as well. We want you to visit and spend personal time with your baby. If you are away and need peace of mind, you can call 24 hours a day.
If your baby is born at a Novant Health facility and needs to be seen by a higher level NICU, he or she may be transferred to the NICU in Charlotte or Winston-Salem using our pediatric critical care transport.
When it’s time for your baby to leave our facilities, Novant Health has dedicated discharge teams and services in place designed to help ease the transition from hospital to home.
