Narcolepsy

Treating excessive daytime sleepiness

Do you feel incredibly tired during the day, or ever fall asleep during the day? If so, you may have narcolepsy. People with narcolepsy experience excessive daytime sleepiness and often fall asleep during the day. These sudden sleep attacks may occur during any type of activity at any time of day, often causing serious disruptions in your daily routine.

Could I have narcolepsy?

In addition to excessive daytime sleepiness, you may display any of the following symptoms:

  • Cataplexy - A sudden loss of muscle control ranging from slight weakness to total collapse.
  • Sleep paralysis - Being unable to talk or move for about one minute when falling asleep or waking up.
  • Nypnagogic hallucinations - Vivid and often scary dreams and sounds reported when falling asleep.
